This kimono is made from old indigo cloths from Mali, featuring bold striped patterns created through the traditional resist-dye technique. In this process, parts of the fabric are covered to prevent them from being dyed, while the rest is dipped in deep indigo, resulting in the distinctive stripes. Because the fabrics are vintage, some stains have been creatively covered with pieces of leftover indigo, adding a one-of-a-kind, authentic touch. Originally used for clothing and rituals, the blue color symbolizes strength, protection, and tradition. The fabric is heavy and sturdy, giving the kimono a robust, timeless look.
